In 2003 new regulations were brought in to cover the installation and fitting of windows to comply with the European rules on the conservation of fuel and power to cut down on global emissions form heating.
At Oldeways Period Joinery we saw that this coursed a problem for anyone who had a period property and wanted to replace there windows as there were at the time very little option at the time and as UPVC is such a damaging product for the environment being made from lead and oil with such a short life span after 10 to 20 years it is just land fill.
Jason is a supporter of all green issues concerning the environment and conservation and so decided that with the high levels of craftsmanship and the years of experience that our highly skilled team has at Oldeways Period Joinery we could design windows that met the Part-L regulations but also did not detract from the look of the property, at this point we could offer window and doors which had a U-Value of 1.5, 25% more energy efficient than UPVC.

The regulations have been tightened again in 2010 and now all windows that are covered by Part-L have to have a U-value of 1.6 or below and doors 1.8 or below.
Oldeways Period Joinery offer Hardwood windows and Hardwood doors with U-values of 1.5 and below if required, that will last a lifetime. We can work with you on design and offer traditional looking casement windows that meet all the new criteria for insulation and security but do not detract from the aesthetics of your property and so keeping the beautiful features that make your period property and yet complying with the new regulation and last a lifetime.
