Set up in 1997 by Jason Macleod MIOC LICG, a Master Joiner with over 25 years experience working on heritage projects throughout Europe and America.
Jason also spent time lecturing Carpentry and Joinery at Moulton College, Northamptonshire and is a big supporter of training and the future of our craft and so Oldeways works with the CITB employing a new apprentice every two years and also with Connect offering work experience through local schools. Oldeways are recognised by various conservation organisations for the production of Period Joinery for listed buildings and conservation work and also Fensa, GGF and The BWF meeting the 2010 PART L regulations where required.
In 2003 the government brought in new regulations to govern the fitting and replacement of doors and windows which is all covered in Part L of the building regulations, this does not apply to listed buildings. From 2003 windows and doors had to have an energy rating (a U-value) and Fensa was formed to govern this, at the time the U-Value required had to be less than 2.0 as this was all that UPVC windows could reach.
At Oldeways Period Joinery we saw that this coursed a problem for anyone who had a period property and wanted to replace there window or doors as there was at the time very little options.
Jason decided that with the high levels of craftsmanship and the years of experience that our highly skilled team has at Oldeways he could design windows that met the Part-L regulations but also did not detract from the look of the property at this point we could offer window and doors which had a U-Value of 1.5, 25% more energy efficient than UPVC. The regulations have tightened again in 2010 and all windows that are covered by Part-L have to have a U-value of 1.6 or below and doors 1.8 or below Oldeways offer Hardwood windows and doors with U-values of 1.5 and below if required that will last a lifetime.
At Oldeways we pride ourselves with being able to produce hardwood windows and hardwood doors to suit any period, listed or modern property. Using skills and methods, which have passed the test of time and incorporating new energy values we can offer you true quality. We’re proud not only of our unique service and high level of craftsmanship, but we also source only the finest sustainable timber and materials for our projects, weather its Sapelle Mahogany, European Oak or other similar hardwoods.
Our highly skilled craftsmen can match any window or door set we can also matching mouldings, skirting boards and architraves making an exact replica of the original or something completely individual. Whether restoring a rural stone cottage, the most ornate town house or your new build project we can supply the right choice of hardwood windows, hardwood doors, stairs, and skirting boards or built in furniture and so conserve and enhance the character of your property.
Unlike others, Oldeways period joinery works to create exactly what you want rather than telling you, what you must have. You get a hand crafted custom product created especially for you and not something prefabricated on a production line. This way you get a design that meets your own specifications that complements individual and architectural details so you can rest assured your property will be exclusive and unique.
Oldeways period joinery clients do not talk to a salesman. All design and on site details are discussed and agreed between the client and founder Jason Macleod personally. You are dealing with the main man direct from concept to completion. Part of our service also includes fitting, where our highly skilled Joiners can fit your new hardwood door or windows with the same degree of craftsmanship as when they were constructed.
Our workshop is located in Earls Barton on the outskirts of Northampton in Northamptonshire where our highly skilled craftsmen are fully committed to each and every project. They never forget that your satisfaction and the reputation of Oldeways period joinery are literally in their hands.
